Anne Gifford is a registered nurse and hospital chaplain who has been involved with families and friends of incarcerated loved ones for five years. The inspiration of Anne's personal journey is revealed in her passion to help reconcile relationships, restore families, and reduce recidivism by conducting Journey of the Heart workshops. As she teaches, she helps the participant to begin a path of healing with realistic and factual expectations while facing the past, present, and the future with their incarcerated loved one.
Throughout the workshop, she shares a mother's painful journey as she learned to trust in a God who takes his children on a path of personal and spiritual growth in the love of Jesus Christ. One of her favorite Scriptures is Proverbs 3:5-6 that says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
Anne credits her years in medicine and chaplaincy for providing her with a nondenominational ability to minister to others with words of encouragement and hope. Anne completed her doctoral work at Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. The title of her doctoral dissertation was:
Developing a Biblical-Based Covenant for Parents and Partners of Offenders in Preparation of Their Incarcerated Loved One's Reentry into Society.
